Chatrapathi Shivaji Railway Terminus.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is a UNESCO world heritage site and historic railway station in Mumbai, which serves as the headquarters of the central railway. In March 1996 its name was changed to the present name in honour of the Maratha warrior King shivaji. It is an outstanding example of the meeting of two cultures, as British architects worked with Indian craftsmen to include Indian architectural tradition and idioms thus forging a new style unique to Bombay. The terminus is one of the first and the best products of use of industrial revolution technology merged with the Gothic Revival style, which was based on late medieval Italian models.

It is the busiest railway station in India. The station was eventually rebuilt as the Victoria Terminus, named after the then reigning Queen, and has been subsequently renamed Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CSTM) after Maharashtra's and India's famed 17th century king.

The VT was constructed using high level of engineering both in terms of railway engineering and civil engineering. The centrally domed office structure has a 330 feet long platform connected to a 1,200 feet long train shed,

Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is a symbol of eternal love, since it was built for Mumtaz Mahal, the wife of Shah Jahan. Taj Mahal, the epitome of love is the major attraction of people far and near, The construction of the building started in 1632 and it was a continuous effort from the workers till 1648 when the mausoleum was finished and the other buildings were starting to be built. The Taj sparkles like a jewel in moonlight when the semi-precious stones unfixed into the white marble structure on the main mausoleum catch the glow of the moon. The colors change at different time of the day and during different seasons, The Taj is pinkish in the morning, milky white in the evening and golden when the moon shines. Mumtaz Mahal died in the year 1630, The construction of the monuments started in the years 1631 AD and took almost 22 years to be complete after giving birth to Shahjehan's !4th child. This timeless piece of art has been the inspiration for many artists and architects, ever since its creation. The material was brought in from all over India and central Asia and it took a fleet of 1000 elephants to transport it to the site. Ustad Ahmad Lahori was the chief architect of the project. One of the most famous buildings in the entire world-the Taj Mahal- has fascinated architects and fans of architecture for such a very long time.
Interior decoration-
The interior walls are about 25 meters (82 ft) high and are topped by a "false" interior dome decorated with a sun motif. The interior chamber of the Taj Mahal steps far beyond traditional decorative elements, each lower pishtaq is crowned by a second pishtaq about midway up the wall. and each balcony's exterior window has an intricate screen or jali cut from marble. The octagonal marble screen or jali which borders the cenotaphs is made from eight marble panels which have been carved through with intricate pierce work,

Tourism-

The Taj Mahal attracts between 2 million and 4 million visitors annually, including more than 200,000 from overseas, Most tourists visit in the cooler months of October, November and February. Polluting traffic is not allowed near the complex and tourists must either walk from parking lots or catch an electric bus. The small town to the south of the Taj, known as Taj Ganji or Mumtazabad, was originally constructed with caravanserais bazaars and markets to serve the needs of visitors and workmen. The grounds are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, except for Friday when the complex is open for prayers at the mosque between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. and there are number of hotels in Agra near Taj Mahal.
